Born in Red Factra, a crime-ridden region of Alterra, Ling Jide knew from an early age that fighting was not an option, but a way of life. Her family possesses a rather unique superpower - endadrenaline (see "Powers & Abilities"). Raised by seldom-sympathetic grandfather, the master assassin Cold, Ling honed her fighting skills every hour of the day to take full advantage of her powers. She had no other options - they were the last two Jides living. As Cold felt preserving family tradition was of the utmost importance, he had no qualms in teaching Ling every single forbidden technique he knew. Before the young girl knew it, she was a killing machine. Never attending a single day of school in her life, Ling became an assassin at the then-unprecedented age of ten. She did jobs all around Red Factra to support her aging grandfather, who himself was still killing for a living. However, their line of work was one of great risk, which is why Ling shed no tears after receiving news of Cold's death at the hands of his last target...Zero. In fact, Ling was quite disappointed, citing her grandfather's death as weakness.

Now, Ling wanted to become stronger...but, she also had to get paid doing it...with the upstart Fatal Fighting League. Mesmerized by the legend of the Jide family, the chairman of the no-holds-barred league, Sir Skullion signed Ling to a contract without hesitation. It proved to be great for business, as Ling destroyed everyone placed in her path, turning herself into an immediate household name. Eventually, Ling became the first FFL Top Champion by winning the inaugural tournament, and being a league featuring fighting styles from across the world, Ling amplified her endadrenaline in a long streak of title defenses. Everyone knew how to beat a Jide - finish them before they build - but no one could match Ling's impeccable skills. Enter Enzi Kamaria, the boxing prodigy from Megamerica. Jide vs Kamaria for the Top Championship was set, with Ling as an overwhelming favorite. Enzi defeated Ling by K.O. at 1:57, in the ultimate upset. The fight put the FFL on the map, but Ling cared very little. She only wanted to get stronger...

Due to Ling's Jide family genetics, she was born with endadrenaline, which strengthens her body in proportion to the amount of time she spends fighting. While slow to start, endadrenaline, when active, gives Ling's combat attributes the strength of +1 human for every 30 seconds that passes. Her strikes become harder, movements become quicker, endurance becomes stronger, et cetera. Endadrenaline strengthening is indefinite, however, if not locked in combat, endadrenaline decreases her strength at a much faster rate: -1 human for every 5 seconds that passes. The decrease will remain until she has completely reverted to her natural strength levels. In addition to her superpower, Ling is also a master of many martial arts, due to her intense study of techniques across the planet.
