Mapenzi Garfield was born on a hot summer day in Washington Bay. She was not supposed to exist. A product of rape, she was mistreated by her mother, and constantly reminded that she was not meant to be. They lived in a shelter for abused women that summer, an inevitable destination for someone like her mother, who made a living turning tricks across the Bay for a lowly hustler. Too young to understand, yet old enough to comprehend, Mapenzi never blamed her mother, but instead she blamed herself. However, everyone has a breaking point, and her mother pushed and pushed until one day, Mapenzi approached that point. In a fit of rage, her mother attacked her for essentially no reason, and fed up with the abuse, Mapenzi struck back...with a right hook that went flush into her mother's jaw. The flimsy little girl, knocking the full-grown woman out cold. Security cared little about the abuse, so why would they care if the little girl escaped from the 3rd floor window?
In Megamerica, bad things tend to happen to runaways, so Mapenzi lucked out when she was spotted by Maalik and Esperanza Kamaria, a Megamerican Marine couple who was in town visiting family. When they were told she ran away from the shelter, the Karmarias were not surprised - that shelter had a history of failure. So instead of returning her, they took her to a nearby court. After months of case pleading, and Mapenzi's mother showing up to court inebriated, the day finally came. The day, when Mapenzi Garfield became Mapenzi Kamaria. With her new family, the girl traveled the world, and more importantly, she saw her new parents in action. Inspired by them both, when Mapenzi came of age, she joined the Megamerican Marine Corps. The years of tough company led to another transformation, as young, flimsy Mapenzi became big, tough Enzi. With plenty of awards, and the scars to go with it, Enzi finished her duty on the same day her parents retired. However, those awards didn't go unnoticed, as Sir Skullion came knocking on her door - with an FFL contract...
